Since earning her bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Chicago in 2004, Jacqueline Vanderbilt has had her eyes set on senior management. She knew that meant an MBA from a business school that would not only provide top-notch management training, but that also would hold clout in the business world.
"My goal is to become a senior operational risk manager or executive in my company, helping to drive strategic and intelligent organizational change while focusing on management discipline," Vanderbilt says.
So while working as a compliance and risk officer at JPMorgan Chase, she explored the possibilities provided by Dominican's flexible MBA program, which offers students five concentrations and options to study online, on campus or in hybrid formats.
But it was the experience of the faculty and the school's emphasis on international and emerging perspectives that she credits with helping her succeed.
"The professors in the program are a combination of subject matter experts, authors, and practitioners in their respective fields and are all eager to share their knowledge to help students develop the skills and acumen needed to thrive in today’s business environment," she says. "The program also has a very diverse student base including individuals from various parts of the country and from all over the world. I have enjoyed learning about the different cultures and have been afforded the opportunity to gain an international perspective on business practices."
It's a background she's confident will help inform her persepctive from the top of her industry.
"My experience at the Brennan School of Business has been refreshing and enlightening," she sayd. "It has added immense value to my life from both a professional and personal perspective."
